Sorry for my absence lately, it is due to this little whirligig!

Sebastian Edward

Sebastian decided he wanted to join the party early. 

He had a difficult start, but is a tough little cookie, like his beautiful Mama. 

His Mama & Papa had to deal with more than I and most people in the first few days of their precious baby's life.

But, he is home, looked at in awe and wonderment and filling our hearts with so much love. 

So, this weekend I am away in the Lake District & hope to catch up with my favourite blogs and start to put together some of my own!

Visited my boy in Leicester this weekend. I love a mooch around the city. 

My favourite part is St. Martin's Square - lots of little independent, unusual boutiques. 

& guess what? There was a new one in the square! 

Not only that, its a brilliant find for picking out bit's for the Wedding of Kris & Leanne!

Just a passing pleasurable moment, captured in a smile

• Home cooked meals for my family, nothing gives me more pleasure than feeding them wholesome winter warming meals.

• This tree is decorated differently every month - never fails to raise a smile & brighten my day when I'm passing through!

• Pretty handmade card with a fish brooch made by a talented friend - so lovely when someone takes the time to make something so beautiful.

• An impromptu visit to a local art gallery & this in particular! Little tucked up babies safe & warm. More of my visit to follow....

Finger Knitted Good

I have received so many compliments when wearing my lovely, chunky wool 

wrist-warmers. They were a Christmas gift, from 'Forage' who had a stall on

 Manchester Christmas Market.

Recycled, sustainable and fairly traded the 'Forage Finger Knitted Project' started in 2008, 

teaching women in poor communities to knit with their fingers, supplying the wool then buying the hats & wrist-warmers back for a fair price.

With my lovely wristwarmers I got a  leaflet with pictures of the women in Northern India involved with the project and a small label telling me mine were knitted by 'Kamala'. Probably the elder of the women, the kids said "Ah, she's really cute!" Ha!

 You can see how perfect the colours are for me!!

It's so nice to receive a gift that's a little different!

Even more when it's ethical too.

Magic Little Plate

Just had to share this cute little piece of kitchenware my Son bought me for Christmas.

He got it at the Christmas Market in Manchester. It's a grating plate, 

used for over a century in Spain, France, Italy......

Hand made and painted, I think it's beautiful - my boy couldn't wait to tell me all about it & what it could do!! It grates, grinds, zests & purees....

Gorgeous strong colours, reminiscent of pottery often found in Spain, 

I did a google and you can find them in this country in loads of 

different colours to suit every kitchen - a thing of beauty :-)

As you can see from the pictures it IS really effective, it retains the juice of the 

garlic which is often lost when using a press.

So all you culinary whizzes who I'm sure read this blog ;-0
