A Perfect Autumn Day To Run (Not Me)

First trip out in the car on Sunday (since my op). I went along to a local beauty spot - Entwistle Reservoir. Absolutely perfect Autumn day, the colours so vivid against the clear blue skies and reflected on the water.
I often run here, it's beautiful, enhances my thinking and it's great because it's flat as oppose to walking out of my front door where the only way is up 'baaabbbyyy!'
I always incorporate hill sprint reps into my running as it improves strength and endurance and this is why I was here - Mr.L was doing his hill sprints and I was happy to go along; breath that fresh air deep into my lungs and read my book ;-) & take photographs of course!
Mr.L ran up and down here for half an hour - 150 steps - 1.5 miles in total! Madass!
So important to stretch and cool down properly - it means less injuries, muscles slowly cool down, not just STOP, your heart rate gradually slows down and it also helps flexibility.
Just look at those socks!! :-)

Can't wait to be back running. In the meantime I don't mind watching! I will be looking at booking on some races soon for next year to help to motivate and have something to aim for.

Hope you are having a lovely week!

Fresh Air

Oh my days! I know I love to be outside, but I didn't know that it is a need, no want, no I HAVE TO BE OUTSIDE! I am like a cooped up chicken and the recovery after Hysterectomy book says that you can go for short walk after a few days - So off I went.

It felt so good. The smells of Autumn, the perfect season with it's beautiful jewelled colour scheme and it's opportunity to wrap up warm and layer those clothes.

I didn't go far, just far enough for a fix of the freshest air and the opportunity to clear my head, breathing deeply as I went. Divine. A few rain spatters meant I couldn't enjoy the hot vimto I had envisaged sitting outside - that can save till tomorrow!

Hope you are enjoying your weekend!
What are you up to?

Cosy Favourites

I adore the White Company.
Simple style aesthetics & lasting quality that I have grown to love.

Below are my favourite Autumnal picks & with 20% off ending midnight tonight,
what better reason to indulge?

These double walled glass mugs are just perfect for hot toddies and mulled wine!

I would adore this sheepskin strewn across my bed -
in my book you can never have too much sheepskin!

On Autumn evenings, the minute I get in from work I light a candle & get
cosy by the fire with my pup! :-) This blend contains my favourite scents.

Still on the lookout for a fold over clutch, this is lovely but I am
hoping to find a 'sloppier' version - any ideas??

Thank you for visiting!
Happy weekend :-)

Rolling Into Autumn

The days are rolling by so quickly, one into another.

Summer has rolled into Autumn and with it that definite nip in the air in the evenings -
the days though remaining warm enough to bare legs.

You look up and omg - It's October in a few days.....How the hell did that happen??
The realisation of this hit as I staggered to the bathroom this morning and looked out of the window to be met by this - beautiful isn't it?
Thoughts of 'Autumnising' my bedroom hit, so that's exactly what I did!
I dug out my very old beautifully worn grey velvet throw for the bed.
Strung my Moroccan Fairylights around my wardrobe, these are absolutely gorgeous and cast such pretty shadows on the walls as I drift to sleep, cosy under my quilt ;-)

How are you starting to cosy up your home?

Awesome Autumn

I LOVE Autumn - my favourite time of year - & now definitely fully fledged!

I have had my camera with me constantly over the last couple of weeks,
wanting to capture the things that say Autumn
has REALLY arrived for me.

Sad that photographs cannot capture the stillness & chill in the air,
warm breath in the cold air, leaves crunching underfoot
& the smell of warming alcohol beverages - YUM!

Here's what I'm loving this Autumn :-)

Real fires
Building wood stores

Cosy cushions
The evening ritual of lighting candles
Last flowers of Summer clinging on...
My AGA, the heart & soul of my kitchen -
she knows everybody's secrets - sssshhhhssshhh
Downton Abbey - ooohhh it's been 'Nitty Gritty!'
Loving Sunday Evening's :-)
Leaves crunching underfoot
Cheeky chilly day warm-ups ;-)
Film marathons - 60p each bargains!

Reading books that have been on my shelf oh, too long...
An Autumnal colour feast everywhere you look :-)
Pumpkins - soup, roasted, risotto...
Boots & cosy socks or even leg-warmers!!
Hot chocolate (& chocolate :-0)
Scarves in varying shades to mix it up a bit!
Sheepskins
& of course Fairylights!

What are you loving about Autumn?

52 Weeks of Happy (6/52)

Here's my four curated moments that have put a
smile on my face this week.

It is definitely the simple things!

Jen writer of  Little Birdie blog started this hop over a year ago,
but I loved the idea & decide to do the same!

  • Moroccan fairylights around the mirror in my hall - just love the shadows and patterns they cast.
  • Visiting my friend's puppies - there are seven of the little munchkins, they are toooooo cute (post to themselves coming up!)
  • Enjoying a very long, leisurely walk on the most perfect Autumn day, breathing in clear, crisp air, leaves crunching underfoot and my faithful Olly by my side! :-)
  • Blacking the fire ready to start work over the colder months - can you tell which side I've done?

What's put a smile on your face this week?

52 Weeks of Happy (3/52)

Only a day late this week!

Joining in with Jen from Little Birdie and her '52 Weeks of Happy'
(although Jen has finished hers!)

So, here are my four happy moments of this week :-)

  • Walking up Ingleborough in Yorkshire (or not due to terrible conditions!!) with great friends - despite the weather we tramped, chatted & laughed whilst sharing Maltesers!
  • My work friend lent me this gorgeous button brooch - she felt sorry for me when I turned up at work to find everybody in pink for Breast Cancer Awareness Day - NOT wearing pink.
  • Heart shaped mushroom! :-)

Any simple pleasure that have made you happy this week?

52 Weeks of Happy (1/52)

I have discovered a few new blogs recently which I shall add to my side bar sooooooon!

One in particular, Jen at Little Birdie started this blog hop a year ago....
always late to the party - that's me haha!
She has just posted her 52/52 'Weeks of Happy'.

I so wish I had seen this, I think it is such a marvellous idea.
Looking back on your week, being in the moment (albeit with a camera!)
and capturing the little moments that make you happy or smile.

So I am going to curate my four happy moments and simple pleasures
to share here each week.

  • Reading 'In Style' for £2.00 with the gorgeous Drew Barrymore on the cover, whilst enjoying my favourite drink :-)
  • Putting my sumptuously warm velvet throw on the bed ready for colder nights.
  • My Daughter leaping off the couch announcing she felt like baking and producing this lovely moist marble cake - YUM!
  • Rob Ryan tape for brightening up plain wrapping paper

What simple pleasures have made you smile this week?

Welcoming Autumn...

...with a Melt Candle in (one of) my favourite scent :-)
- Saddle, rich woods and spices.

All Melt candles have little beads on a silver wire wrapped around them
with a few words to encapsulate the scent.

"As the wind swept over the saddle,
it caught it's richness and warmth,
turned it into a 1000 different fragrances
and scented the world".

Wishing you all an Awesome Autumn.....
