Frugal Take Off (Bagged In The Sale)

Whenever the new season Plumo catalogue drops through my door, I love to earmark a couple of things to watch for in the sale. I love the aesthetics of Plumo and have had a few really good bargains in the past, never date and really really good quality. A woollen shawl and a sarong that have travelled everywhere with me.

But this isn't a post about Plumo - it's a take off of the Plumo outfit I chose here, but from Next. Now it may not look as cool, it may not last as long, but I was pretty chuffed with my purchases. Bagged in the sale too. Total cost twenty pounds! Below Plumo, followed by moi!

 I also love, love, loved this wallet. Expensive +++. But for Christmas from my hubby received the gorgeous black lamb leather wallet from Hush (seen after this picture).

A snip compared to Plumo and I love, love, love it!! I now use it instead of a handbag as it fits my phone, keys, money and lipbalm perfectly! It's all I carry!

Still wanting these though! Keeping an eye out for them to be dropped further still! 

Have you bagged any bargains this January? I didn't go hustling to Next, I couldn't cope. This was a passing by and I'll just drop in....and there they were waiting!!

Winter Wedding Outfit

One thing I can do whilst recuperating is cruise the www. Good thing? Bad thing? One thing's for sure, I will probably be doing all my Christmas shopping online. 

Oh no!! Did I just say the 'C' word??!! I am definitely going stir crazy - first for everything! ;-)

So, I have a wedding to go to in December. Another wedding to which I can wear my trusty Mint Velvet Jumpsuit  - already worn to three Weddings - all different guests!

With it being a winter wedding I thought it would be nice to add jewel coloured accessories. I discovered that Next currently have some gorgeous red berry shades. Perfect!

Although not all the exact shade, you can't tell unless next to each other which they won't be :-)

 I just adore this bag, which will add a hit of colour to my grey and navy wardrobe!

& tassels, look at the tassels!!

 Despite the height they are comfy......for a walk around the bedroom anyhow......

I think they will look great with skinny jeans and a berry roll neck I have.

 Full ensemble.....fur jacket to keep me cosy in church! 

 I wasn't sure about the scarf but my friend pointed out that it has an aztec pattern like the jumpsuit, so keeper :-) 

  

Although I have obviously spent quite a bit of money, I feel I have saved by not feeling the need to buy a new outfit. That jumpsuit is the best money I ever spent, comfortable and cool!

If anyone can advise me about a berry lip I'd be really grateful!

Same But Different

I recently had a wedding to attend. I decided I didn't want to buy anything new and instead wear something already in my wardrobe but  make it look different. No guests from the previous wedding were going to be there so it was safe to do! :-)

I wore my Mint Velvet jumpsuit which I had to put tucks into around the bodice as it was now too big for me - luckily the way it is designed meant I could get away with this.....

I last wore it to a Western Wedding  with cowboy boots, leather bolero & a cowboy hat!

This time round I added a cream jacket, blush coloured gladiator heels and a gorgeous white clutch bag in pebbled leather.

So, there it is - my refashioned wedding outfit!

I'm trying to be frugal with purchases, particularly for occasion wear which may only have one or two trips out. This jumpsuit has had lots of outings, not just for Weddings! :-)

Plumo Autumn

I'm a big Plumo lover & whilst I've been away their latest collection has dropped through my door.

I love the simple aesthetics, the photography backdrops, that the clothes have a raw edge to them, a little different. They also tend to be expensive. However, when I have bought (in the sale) I have always been impressed with the quality (and the compliments!)

So here, if money were no object (& if I had not spent Summer paring back all our my belongings including clothes) are my top picks;

New Summer Basics

I posted here about losing over 2 stone in weight since October last year. It isn't just weight loss, my body is much stronger and leaner due to discovering a love of running and racing.

I have had to buy a whole load of new clothes, my old one's were literally hanging off me.

Next was the quickest and easiest place to replace my everyday essentials. They have an excellent range of basics and are reasonably priced.

Vest tops 3 for £12.00 in grey, white, navy, obviously!

These linen t-shirts I LOVE, great quality and fit for linen & navy & stripes!!

 3 pairs of jeans - dark, washed and striped - oh my days they are gorgeous :-) Next jeans fit me really well - never did before....

This top, is a lovely light fluid shape, it feels much more expensive than it's £15.00 price tag. Unusual colour for me, but I like it and it works with tan shoes. 

Here it is with those tan shoes and also a cream jacket, a must have this Summer  bought for a wedding last month from H & M, which dresses it up further.

Another t-shirt - show me paisley - it's a must have :-) Love the little pompom detail on the neck and sleeves :-)

 

I read the fabulous blog That's Not My Age and love the advice given. One piece of advice I have followed with this new wardrobe is owning a blue shirt. Throw on for cooler days, lovely soft cotton and striped, though a bit difficult to see in the picture. Dress up, dress down perfect. Silver shoes also from Next last year. 

 

Swing vest, again fits really nicely. Again striped! Blimey, how knackered do I look on this?!

 

This I threw into the shopping trolley at Sainsbury's, great value, I'd been looking at much more expensive versions. Ubiquitous navy detail. A tenner in the sale! Bagged!

 More stripes. Don't know the make, bought from a Fairtrade shop in Leicester. Striped with batwing sleeves - what can I say....A little pricey, but you know, it's made from bamboo!! Ha!

So there a quick round up of the new basics in my wardrobe. Where do you buy basics? Next I need to sort my work attire!!

Weekend Recap

I have just waved goodbye to my boy - off on his way back to Uni - truly signalling the end of the festive season. You'd think I would be used to this after four years, but no, the tears still fall and a little piece of my heart is empty. Miss my kids being home so much.....

Last night we enjoyed drinks with good friends - really good friends - our ski group friends who we live with on numerous holidays kibbutz like! ;-0

It was very chilly, so I wrapped up warm in my purple sheepskin which went missing at the dry cleaners in November and I was so happy to get back yesterday!! 

Can't say how much I am loving these Hush Biker Jeans. They fit me so well and make me determined to keep the weight off that I lost this year. Great incentive and for that alone well worth the money.

This striped linen top I bagged in the Zara Sale and looks great with my christmas necklace from Noa Noa - simple and understated.

The details on the bikers are what makes them - zips & stitch details.
