Lytham St. Annes

Last weekend I had another stir crazy moment - I needed to go to the sea! Do you ever get that way? I love the smell of that salty air and the sound of the crashing waves. It really is good for my soul,
re-energising and sorting my head!!

Arriving late afternoon we had a short but exhilarating walk, admiring the amazing sunset and got really lucky as it turned out to be the Christmas light switch on with Christmas Carols and entertainment followed by a firework display. Lytham St. Annes is a small coastal town in Lancashire, around 26 miles away from home. It has a thriving town centre with lots of individual shops and at the Christmas light switch on the community spirit was palpable.
Olly got fed up watching the entertainment in the town centre!!
 Fireworks!!
Fish and chips - has to be done, then home to catch up on X Factor!!

Thanks for visiting -
hope you are having a nice week!

Chasing The Sun

I took a much needed mini break at a relatives in Portugal recently
with my Son and his girlfriend.
Time to replenish, get some sun and boost my Vitamin D levels (which are low),
get a bit of a tan, feel the sand between my toes, hear the sound of the Atlantic, swim, read, eat healthily, peruse the markets, leave the world behind, have fun & laugh!
I think I did it!
Left these two behind to enjoy another week!

My love of bright colours was evident when I looked down at the airport!!

Slowly catching up with my favourite blogs!
Sun, sea and sand, good for my soul.
What's good for your soul?

Formby

As I hoped here, whilst my friends were staying - we did share news, laugh, dance, joke & visit new places. I took them to Formby, owned by the National Trust.
Home to spectacularly  scenic coastal walks and sea views.

As a child it was also teeming with red squirrels, who would come and feed from your hand.
You could buy food to give them and me and my siblings would be scrabbling in the paper bag for the last scraps in the hope of hanging on to a squirrel a little longer!!

There are still red squirrels there - I'm told ;-0 but catching even a glimpse of a bushy tail was another thing....probably best to visit in the morning when the feeders are filled with food.

Clinging to the earth, trying to stay 'rooted!'
Formby has the best sand dunes - kids just love it here - a chance to run, slide down sand hills on your bum, play hide and seek - hell I love it now!
 Hurry up will ya?
We saw these strange tree's - we decided the strange shape was due to years of wind from the sea - it was the stillest day. It was so weird to see - the photo doesn't capture it.....

The sea - always to be respected,
capable of so much.
